BOP Industries CEO and Innovation In Education Festival Co-Creator Scott Millar outlines why the festival is so important.
At the commencement of the 2021 Innovation In Education Festival, BOP Industries CEO Scott Millar outlined why a festival focussed on innovation in our schools and their classrooms was so important.
As we head into 2022 and preparations commence for this year's festivals in Brisbane and Perth we thought it was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on those initial questions at the core of the festival and its creation.
How are we preparing our students for the unknown future of work?
The future of work is changing rapidly. In a recent study the World Economic Forum revealed that 50% of the global workforce will need two to six months of re-skilling to stay competitive by 2025.
Whilst the core skills of critical and creative thinking, collaboration and an innovation mindset, that are going to be key elements of this re-skilling over the next few years are already a focus of the classroom today, the Innovation In Education Festival explores the educational concepts and trends that will transform the classroom of tomorrow, and ensure our next generation of students are ready to take on the world. What are the skills the students of today will need to keep them competitive in the workforce of 2035, 2045 or 2055?
As technology advances and Gen Z students enter the workforce, industry leaders are seeking to engage with young people and their unique digital native skills. The Innovation In Education Festival explores how we can reach out to industry to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
How are our classrooms changing and adapting, and what could you implement in your classroom to better prepare your students for the future? With an ever changing world, preparing an innovative educational experience can be daunting, which is why the Innovation In Education Festival program is filled with thought provoking ideas, guest speakers, demonstrations and masterclasses to inspire you with practical processes to implement in your own classroom, whilst giving you the chance to connect and network with likeminded peers and industry professionals, to share your own experiences and successes.
So why do we need the Innovation In Education Festival? To bring together industry leaders, innovative educators, thought leaders and young professionals to share and discuss the future of education, to experience exciting new trends and technologies that will enhance our students time in education, and to connect with our colleagues and peers as we challenge ourselves to create the classroom of tomorrow.
